So after two months or so of studying, cramming and basically just spazzing out about school work and other stuff, I finally get the opportunity to watch a movie again. Sure, I’ve watched some movies these past few days but all of them were watched at home so those technically don’t count. Nothing beats watching movies in a theater.

After reading some article in the paper about screenings of Japanese horror films, I jumped on the chance that maybe my friends would want to join me. Plus, it would be free so that’s always nice.

We’re gonna watch this film called Hausu (House) by acclaimed director Nobuhiko Kobayashi on Shangrila mall. I hear it’s really good. But a bit of a warning my kids, I have this habit of laughing out loud instead of squirming in fear whenever I get scared. So if you see a guy laughing his ass off to a scary movie in Shangrila mall later this afternoon, expect it to be yours truly.

So, my English class groupmates weren’t as boring as hell as I thought they would be. In fact, I think they’re very nice people. There are five of us in my English group - Budz, the friendly slightly portly girl from Pangasinan whom I have befriended since day one, Kenneth, a simple, lanky gay(?) boy who’s very nice, Jen, the token snooty girl of the group and Edison, the Computer Science dude who loves Sugarfree.

All in all they’re not bad people. I guess I just need to open up more to people ‘cause some people think snobbish because I seldom smile. True, I smile only on rare occasions not because I’m a snob but because smiling is just not normal for me. It’s a completely alien thing for me to do. I guess that’s what happens when you’re a grave teen.

Also, I don’t wear my eyeglasses when I walk on the halls around campus because I get so self-consciuos about wearing glasses that I just pass up wearing them in public thus impairing my vision resulting in my non-familiarity of faces in front of me, even if I know them from class.

I guess I should just wear my glasses in the hallways (or better yet, wear contacts, but that’s another issue) AND I should definitely practice how to smile properly in my bedroom mirror…

So tomorrow will be event filled ‘cause I’ll have to drop classes and attend a meeting with my amazing groupmates for an upcoming report in English. And by amazing I mean super stab-my-neck-with-a-KFC-spork boring.

I have nothing interesting to say so I’ll just post some of the tracks I’ve been listening to lately:

Nico - These days
Spinto Band - Oh Mandy
Sondre Lerche - Sleep on needles
The Perishers - Trouble sleeping
Imogen Heap - Goodnight and go
Rilo Kiley - Execution of all things
Peaches - Fuck the pain away
Sufjan Stevens - The man of Metropolis steals our hearts
Sleater-Kinney - Rollercoaster
Jeff Buckley - Lover, you should’ve come over

So I’ve been missing some of my classes on Math and Computer Science intentionally for the past few days. The reason for that is that I just feel that I’m fighting for a lost cause, i.e. I’ll end up taking Math again next semester (plus my current Math teacher sucks) and my heart is not really into Computer Science.

I have now decided to take the path least taken and major in Geography instead, my first love.

As a kid, instead of playing outside all I did was look at atlases, read and/or create maps, flip through pages of encyclopedias, et al., so it’s not surprising that I have chosen Geography as my course. Never mind if I don’t get a high-paying job that being a Computer Science graduate could offer, I’d still be happy if I get to be a geographer someday. Besides, I hear that with Geography, I can enter different fields of work according to my specialization.

I can be an Environmental geographer and be part of NGOs like UNICEF and that sort. Or I could be a Physical geographer and study weather forecasting and climatology - with that I could work for major news stations behind the camera doing weather prediction which is pretty sweet (I am geek. I know.). I could be an Urban Planner or an Economic geographer or even a Human/Cultural geographer. The possibilities are endless, though working here in the Philippines may just not suffice my satisfaction. I may just have to work in other countries, wherever they may be, to satisfy my curiosity of seeing the world.

As you may have noticed, I’m pretty psyched about taking up Geography in college. Fingers crossed I’ll someday travel across the globe and that in 10 years time, I would be very happy with the choice I’ve made and that going to work wouldn’t feel like a hassle at all.
